How to Inspect a Property Before Payment
What to look at, what to ask and what to record during a physical property inspection.
Before the visit
Book the inspection in advance, request the exact location and bring a copy of the listing so you can compare what you see with what was described.
On site
For land: confirm beacons, plot boundaries, access road and surrounding terrain. For houses: check the structure, roof, plumbing, electrical fittings, finishing and drainage.
Take photographs and notes, and ask for the names of anyone who represents the seller.
After the visit
Compare your notes with the documents provided and ask follow-up questions in writing before making any payment.
